LEGO gifts for parents and grandparents who “don’t need anything”
By Your World in Bricks · Published November 5, 2026; prices checked on LEGO.com the same day. One idea, the family home in bricks, is ours and is labelled “From us”.
For parents and grandparents, the LEGO® gifts that land best are ones they can display without being “into LEGO”: Botanicals flowers like the Poinsettia ($49.99) or the Bouquet of Pink Roses ($59.99), nostalgic models like the Polaroid camera ($79.99) or the Record Player ($29.99), a set to build with the grandchildren, or a model of the family home.
None of them needs building experience: LEGO instructions are pictures, one step at a time. Prices below are LEGO.com US prices on November 5, 2026.
LEGO’s Botanicals line is the easiest way in for people who haven’t built since childhood: calm builds, a few evenings each, and the result looks like home decor rather than a toy.

Poinsettia
Set 10370 · 608 pieces · Ages 18+ · $49.99
A posable poinsettia with five clusters of red bracts in a woven-basket pot, about 8 inches tall. It never drops a leaf.
On backorder at lego.com, shipping by November 21, 2026, and marked “retiring soon”.
Twelve roses in pink gradients, from buds to full bloom, with sprigs of baby’s breath. It comes with three instruction books so up to three people can build it together.
With three instruction books, it is a gift to build together on Christmas afternoon.
A record player with a turning platter, a tonearm, two records and removable flowers. It is a 3-in-1 set: the same bricks rebuild into a retro radio or a microphone.
A near life-size Game Boy with pressable buttons, swappable Zelda and Super Mario Land cartridges and a display stand. It doesn’t light up or play games.
Highclere Castle as Downton Abbey, with the dining room, library and kitchens inside, a lift-off top level and 13 minifigures from season 6. It began as a fan design voted for on LEGO Ideas.
For a fan of the show, a big project for the quiet days after Christmas.
A set that grandparents and grandchildren build side by side is two gifts in one. Pick one with a clear split, or separate instruction books.

Festive Gingerbread House
Set 40809 · 498 pieces · Ages 10+ · $39.99
A candy-covered gingerbread house that opens to show Santa’s desk, fireplace and bedroom, with a Santa minifigure. About 6 inches tall: a table centerpiece or a village cottage.
Small enough to finish in an afternoon together, and it comes back out every December.
A countdown display rather than an advent calendar with doors: Santa climbs into a chimney on a snowy roof, and you turn knobs each day to rotate the countdown blocks. It is meant to come out again every year.
The 2025 Winter Village train: a locomotive, tender, flatcar and furnished end car on a 16-piece circle of track made to run around a holiday tree, with a platform, four minifigures and two instruction books for building together. It can be motorized with Powered Up parts, sold separately.
LEGO includes two instruction books so two people can build it together.
On backorder at lego.com (“will ship in 60 days”), so it won’t arrive from LEGO by Christmas.
The house where the family grew up holds the birthdays, the first days of school and the Christmas mornings. No LEGO set is of their house, so it is the one gift on this list nobody else will think of.
A brick model of their own houseFrom us
Custom design $19, any size · Bricks sold separately, about $60–$110 for 500 pieces
Not a LEGO set: Your World in Bricks designs a model of any simple detached house from a few photos, with an illustrated instruction book and a parts list for real LEGO® bricks, ready within 24 hours. The bricks come from LEGO® Pick a Brick, BrickLink or the bins they already own.
Getting photos: one clear photo of the front is enough to start; 4–12 from around the house give a closer likeness. Visiting for Thanksgiving is the perfect chance. For a house the family has left, photograph it from the public sidewalk, or use a clear old family photo.
Giving it: built and wrapped, as a box of bricks with the printed instruction book, or as the book on Christmas morning with the bricks to follow.
From all the siblings: one person orders the design; everyone can chip in for the bricks.
Custom design $19, any size · Bricks sold separately
Also ours: a favorite photo (the grandchildren, the dog, the beach) designed as framed brick wall art with step-by-step instructions and a parts list for real LEGO® bricks. A stylized picture rather than a photo-real portrait.
For grandparents, a beach or holiday photo of the grandchildren works well; backs and silhouettes are recognizable from shapes and colors alone.
Loose bricks take longer than boxed sets. LEGO® quotes about 5 days for Pick a Brick Bestseller pieces and up to 28 business days for Standard pieces in the US (LEGO® Help, as of October 2026); BrickLink depends on each store. Our custom designs themselves are quick: usually ready in about an hour, delivered within 24 hours. Running late? Wrap the printed instruction book and let the bricks follow.
Start small. A 300- to 600-piece set is a relaxed first build; 1,000 pieces and up is a project.
Good light and a tray. Sorting the bags onto a tray or baking sheet saves a lot of searching for small pieces.
Reading glasses help. Some LEGO colors look alike in dim light, like dark gray and black.
Keep the grandchildren’s sets apart. Small parts are a choking hazard for children under three and for pets.
Prices and delivery
LEGO.com’s standard US shipping takes 3–5 business days and is free over $35. Watch the stock notes above: the Poinsettia is on backorder until late November and the Holiday Express Train won’t arrive from LEGO by Christmas.
Prices, piece counts and stock are from LEGO.com (US) on November 5, 2026, and they change often, especially around Insiders Weekend (November 21–22) and Black Friday to Cyber Monday (November 27–30). We’re independent of the LEGO Group and earn nothing from these links.
Botanicals flowers such as the Poinsettia ($49.99) or the Bouquet of Pink Roses ($59.99) are calm, display-worthy builds for adults new to LEGO; the roses come with three instruction books for building together. For a personal gift, a model of the family home is designed from photos.
Are LEGO sets hard for older adults to build?
No. The instructions are pictures, step by step, with no reading required. Start with a few hundred pieces, sort them onto a tray, and build in good light.
Can I get a LEGO model of my parents’ house?
LEGO doesn’t sell one, but we design custom brick models of simple detached houses from your photos, with instructions and a parts list for real LEGO® bricks, ready within 24 hours. Bricks are sold separately.
