Your World in Bricks
WHAT IT COSTS

What does a custom brick model of a house cost?

A custom brick model of your house costs anywhere from $19 to several thousand dollars, depending on who designs it, whether the bricks are included and who builds it. A digital design with instructions, like ours, is $19 plus about $60–$110 to $480–$880 of bricks you buy yourself. Kits with the bricks included start around $205, premium commissioned kits start at $800, and fully built replicas have been reported from $2,500.

Below: the options side by side, with each seller’s own published prices as of October 2026, what each includes, and the costs that are easy to miss.

Prices are in USD as published by each seller when we checked in October 2026, except where marked “reported”, and they change. Shipping and tax are extra unless a seller says otherwise. Our brick range covers 500 to 4,000 pieces at LEGO® Pick a Brick prices.

Tier 1: a digital design, you buy the bricks

This is what we sell. You upload photos of the house, choose a size from 500 to 4,000 pieces, and we design the model: an illustrated, step-by-step instruction book, a complete parts list and upload files for LEGO® Pick a Brick, BrickLink and Rebrickable. The design is $19 at every size. Most designs are ready in about an hour. We deliver within 24 hours after payment (and your photos).

The bricks are the bigger part of the bill, and they depend on the size you choose:

SizeDesignBricks (estimate, LEGO® Pick a Brick prices)Total, before tax and shipping
500 piecesSmall & abstract$19$60–$110$79–$129
1,000 piecesCompact & charming$19$120–$220$139–$239
2,000 piecesMore architectural detail$19$240–$440$259–$459
3,000 piecesDetailed display$19$360–$660$379–$679
4,000 piecesLarge display model$19$480–$880$499–$899

Brick estimates are planning figures (about 12–22¢ a piece), not live quotes. BrickLink is often cheaper, and pieces you already own cost nothing. The trade-off: you shop for the bricks and build the model yourself, and the design is checked by software, not test-built by hand. It is a stylized interpretation of the house, not an exact replica, and we currently design simple detached houses with rectangular walls and a gable or flat roof.

Automated generators sit at the low end of this tier. Brickoodle, for example, lists a single photo mosaic for $9.99 (a 32 × 32 picture of 1,024 flat 1 × 1 tiles) and a pack of three automatically generated 3D models of up to 500 pieces for $14.99, each with instructions and a LEGO® upload list; bricks are bought separately (Brickoodle, as of October 2026). That suits a quick picture or a small generic build; it is not a design of one particular house from several photos.

Tier 2: a kit with the bricks included

Here a designer makes the model and ships you the pieces with printed instructions; you build it. You pay more, but there is no brick shopping and no risk of a missing color.

  • Brick Keepsake Co. on Etsy listed its Custom LEGO® Home Facade Set at $204.99 when we checked in October 2026; the shop showed it was taking a short break at the time, and no delivery time was listed (Brick Keepsake Co. “Custom LEGO® Home Facade Set” on Etsy).
  • Blueprint Bricks prices each commission by size and detail: facades start at $800, a full house at $1,500 and a deluxe model at $3,500. Every commission includes the pieces and instructions in a custom box, design changes and renders. Builds range from 2,000 to 17,000 pieces and take three to eight months; shipping is included in the quote (Blueprint Bricks pricing; Blueprint Bricks FAQ, as of October 2026).

Many other Etsy sellers offer similar kits; prices and lead times vary widely, so compare what is included (facade only or the whole house, base, box, design changes) before you order.

Tier 3: a model built for you

At the top end a builder designs and assembles the model, and it arrives finished, ready to display.

A built model is the only option where nobody in the family has to build anything, which matters for a gift to someone who doesn’t enjoy building.

Which is right for you?

  • You enjoy building, or the build is part of the gift: a digital design. It costs the least, you choose the size, and the build itself becomes the experience.
  • You already have a collection: a digital design, then buy only what you’re missing. Our builders page shows how much of a design your Rebrickable collection covers.
  • You want everything in one box: a kit with the bricks included, if the budget and the lead time fit.
  • You want an heirloom with interiors, or a very large model: a premium commissioned kit or a built replica, and plan months ahead.
  • You want a finished model and nobody will build it: a built replica.
  • You want a picture rather than a model: a mosaic or brick wall art. See brick mosaic vs relief art.

Costs that are easy to miss

  • The bricks. With a digital design they are separate: about $60–$110 for a 500-piece house up to about $480–$880 for 4,000 pieces at Pick a Brick prices. Our guide to Pick a Brick vs BrickLink explains where they cost less.
  • Shipping and service fees. LEGO® adds a service fee to smaller Pick a Brick orders (LEGO® Help: Pick a Brick service fees). On BrickLink each store charges its own shipping, so an order split across five stores pays five shipping fees.
  • Delivery time. LEGO® quotes 5 days for Pick a Brick Bestseller pieces and 28 business days for Standard pieces in the US (LEGO® Help: delivery timeframes, as of October 2026). For a gift, order the bricks weeks ahead.
  • Your time to build. The 14 houses in our library run from about 1,600 to 3,300 pieces and 350 to 990 instruction steps. Plan on several sittings for anything above 500 pieces, and more for a gift with a deadline.
  • Tax on the bricks and on any kit or commission.
  • Lights, cases and bases. Our renders are lit for display, but lights are not included in any design, and display cases are extra with every option.

Other ways to pay for our design

The yearly library membership, $199/year, includes one custom design per paid year plus every design in our library. The monthly membership, $20/month, opens the library only. Bricks are sold separately either way, and checkout is open to US residents. See membership, or what you get with a custom brick model of your house.

Questions

How much does a custom model of my house in LEGO® bricks cost?

Our design is $19 at any size, for real LEGO® bricks you buy separately: about $60–$110 for 500 pieces up to about $480–$880 for 4,000 pieces at Pick a Brick prices. Kits with bricks included were listed from about $205 and premium kits from $800 in October 2026; built replicas were reported from $2,500 in 2018.

Why is a built replica so much more expensive?

You are paying for a builder’s design time and assembly as well as the bricks, and often for interior details, design rounds and careful packing. A digital design leaves the shopping and building to you, which is why it costs less.

Are the bricks included with your design?

No. We sell the design, instructions and parts list; you buy the bricks from LEGO® Pick a Brick, BrickLink or another seller, or use pieces you already own.

Why is every size the same price?

The $19 pays for designing your house. A larger size adds detail and pieces, and those show up in the brick cost, not the design price.

Is the cheapest option good enough for a gift?

It depends on who builds it. If you or they enjoy building, a design plus bricks is a personal project as well as a keepsake. If nobody will build it, a built model is the better gift, even at many times the price.

Where do your competitor prices come from?

From each seller’s own website or listing, checked in October 2026, linked next to each price. Little Brick Lane’s prices come from a 2018 Mental Floss article and are marked as reported.
