CHRISTMAS BRICK BUILDS

Christmas brick builds: a gingerbread house, a tree and a snowman

Our library has three Christmas designs for the mantel or the holiday table, each with an illustrated step-by-step instruction book and a complete parts list for real LEGO® bricks, about 510 to 750 pieces each.

They are original designs, not official sets, sized to finish in a few sittings. Members open every design for $20/month or $199/year. Bricks are sold separately.

Gingerbread house instructions

A gingerbread house is the friendliest Christmas build: one small house, bright colors and plenty of decorating at the end. Ours is a baked-brown cottage with a steep roof scattered with candies, white icing along the gables, gumdrops on the ridge, candy-cane posts by the red door and a peppermint path across a snowy base. It is one of the smaller designs in the library, so the parts list fits in a single order and the build suits a family afternoon.

Unlike the edible kind, it keeps: build it once and bring it out every December. If you prefer to build from bricks you already own, add your Rebrickable parts list on our builders page and every design shows how much of it your collection covers.

Building a Christmas village

Many builders put together a Christmas village MOC (“my own creation”) on a sideboard each year: a few houses, a tree, some snow and figures. Our designs work as pieces for that kind of display. The tree, with baubles, a star and wrapped gifts on a snowy base, and the snowman with his top hat, scarf, little fir and gifts, both sit naturally beside the gingerbread house.

The one piece no catalog has is your own home. A custom design of your house is $19, ready within 24 hours, and a 500-piece version needs about $60–$110 of bricks at LEGO® Pick a Brick prices. Our house designs don’t add snow or decorations; dress it with the village around it.

Plan the bricks before the holidays

The instructions are ready the moment you open a design; the bricks are what takes time. LEGO® quotes about 5 days for Pick a Brick Bestseller pieces and 28 business days for Standard pieces in the US (LEGO® Help: delivery timeframes, as of October 2026), and December is busy for every seller. For a build that’s on display by Christmas, order the bricks by mid-November. A custom design of your own house adds little to that: usually ready in about an hour, delivered within 24 hours.

Not sure where to buy? Our guides compare Pick a Brick and BrickLink and walk through uploading a BrickLink wanted list, including how to keep the number of stores (and shipping fees) down.

As a gift

A Christmas build makes a good shared project with children or grandparents: print the instruction book, sort the bricks by step and build a few pages each evening in December. For a more personal present, the house someone grew up in, or the first home a couple shared, can be designed from a few photos; see gifting the family home and a “where we started” house.

Membership and free designs

The monthly membership, $20/month, opens every design in the library, Christmas builds included, and you can cancel anytime. The yearly membership, $199/year, opens the library and includes one custom design per paid year, such as your own house. Every Monday a few library designs become free for the week; anyone signed in can claim and keep them. Bricks are sold separately either way. Membership

Questions

Are these official LEGO® Christmas sets?

No. They are our own original designs for real LEGO® bricks; we are not affiliated with the LEGO Group. You get the instructions and parts list and buy the bricks separately.

Can I get my own house as a Christmas village piece?

Yes. Upload photos and we design your house for $19 at any size from 500 pieces, ready within 24 hours. It is designed as the house looks in your photos; decorations and snow are up to you.

When should I order for Christmas?

Order the bricks by mid-November. Standard Pick a Brick pieces can take up to 28 business days to arrive in the US, and holiday shipping is slower.

Are lights included?

No. No lights or electronics are included in any design.
